New York is considered the destination for all things Food, Beverage, and Entertainment. With a thorough consideration and in-depth research of the NYC entertainment landscape at the time, Brian Gefter and Michael Satsky identified the necessity to develop a private brand for an international network of clients and friends. In 2009, Provocateur was created and placed in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan.
Provocateur gained a reputation around the globe as being the most selective and most private, luxury hospitality brand which provided its world traveler members’ absolute service of its grandiose offering.
Provocateur since opened in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Porto Alegre, Brazil, The Four Seasons Resort, Dubai, and built seasonal locations in Cannes, France, and Ibiza, Spain. Gefter and Satsky have sited permanent locations in London, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and Miami Beach are on the horizon.
“We operate today exactly as when we opened — with the same policies, the same procedures, and the same level of attention to service and hospitality,” said Mr. Gefter, in a 2015 interview with Hotelier Middle East right before the opening of Provocateur Dubai.
Ahead of the Curve Music Programming
Over the past decade, Brian Gefter and Michael Satsky’s Provocateur has become synonymous with revolutionizing a music program, consistently showcasing star talent in the most limited settings.
“One of the biggest differences in our venue from those that have come before in NYC is that we will open with an electronic music program, again in contrast with the sound landscape during that time, and even still today,” Gefter continued in the Hotelier Middle East interview.
Brian Gefter and Michael Satsky produce and manage off-site events worldwide. This entails mobilizing and recreating their private brand experience within live music festivals, arena shows, clandestine performances, and during high influence global occasions.
Additionally, Provocateur became a catalyst for Mr. Gefter to open up Eye-Def Media, the creative agency arm of Provocateur that captivates both client and consumer with stunning visual storytelling techniques and event planning design and management for large-scale clients such as Coca Cola and Dom Perignon. Employing a team of professionally trained creative agents, the agency offers design services and full-scale event management.
In 2016 the duo opened their first Hotel, The Plymouth Miami Beach and Blue Ribbon Sushi along with Think Hotel Group. The property is one of only two hotels named as part of the “Small Luxury Hotels” brand, located in the southeastern United States. Additionally, The Plymouth Hotel won the 2019 Conde Nast Johansens award for “Best Urban Hotel”.
