Duplicate URL's in J1.5.7 - Update - but problem persists?
Question Duplicate URL's in J1.5.7 - Update - but problem persists?
by Dominic Conrad on 02/09/2009 01:04

Okay - I've had confirmation that this is nothing to do with sh404SEF or XMap. Rather it is down to the way Joomla 1.5.7 creates an additional URL/Path to articles that are listed in a category blog as well as being linked to the main menu. See http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/tracker/?action=TrackerItemEdit&tracker_item_id=12724

I've applied the patch to my J1.5.7 install and it corrects (most of) the article link/url's on the category blog pages (viz, from mainmenu>Accommodation, Location & FreeTime) and the 'read more' links are showing the correct url's now.

However, the duplicate URLs are still showing in the SEF Service Map (v2.0) sitemap at http://www.villasanraffaello.com/newsitemap.html. They are the ones that also show the intro description as wel as the title and all have itm ID's as part of the URL. Google webmasters informs me the sitemap submits 72 URLs, of which I know 31 are duplicate/not required. How do I remove or prevent these from being included in the sitemap and hence being indexed by Google?

I've included partial grabs of the front end sitemap (and highlighted the bits i dont want displayed) and the backend strukture.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Dominic.
This problem with different Itemid's was reported me some time ago and will be corrected on next SEF Service Map version (coming soon).

Regards, Radek.

As for sharing your content online, the only real improvement in MacJournal v5 is Picasa integration. Of course, there's still support for LiveJournal, Blogger, Movable Type, WordPress and .mac. Connecting and posting to your account is quite simple through MacJournal, but the formatting still leaves a bit to be desired. What looks great in MacJournal doesn't always look the same once it's on Blogger, for example, and I found myself wrestling with that more than I should have. For most, it just makes more sense to post directly to their blog via the website instead of going through a third-party program such as MacJournal. That being said, I should note I didn't test this with LiveJournal, Movable Type or WordPress. I'm guessing that the more basic your blog design, the more luck you'll have integrating your MacJournal entries. One of my continuing hopes for Mariner Software is tighter integration between the different programs. I understand that this isn't as easy as it seems, as Mariner took over development of some programs instead of creating them from scratch. Still, if Mariner can get MacJournal, Montage and StoryMill to communicate and share information in much the same manner that the applications in Adobe's Creative Suite do, that would pretty much be the killer creative writing suite for the Macintosh.

it seems I do have a similar problem with the ping process as Gergely pointed out:
No item is pinged automatically.
If I manually select all items and do a ?ping all items?, only one item is put on the queue which is
http://www.loicherhuette.at/details-zur-viehzucht/11-details-viehzucht/13-mangalitza-schweine.html
None of all the other menus/articles is queued at all.
My site is www.loicherhuette.at, I have installed your SEF 2.0.11 component and not installed any integrators at the moment. I?m using Joomla 1.5.2 and one of siteground?s templates, so I guess the menu structure is in a standard format.
