SEF Service Map is the only component available to create site maps for services consisting of more than 50.000 pages. It is possible thanks to streaming creation of the site map (which disallows memory overload) and division of the main XML site map into smaller maps. Index of these maps is then reported to search engines, in compatibility with http://sitemaps.org specification;

SH404 Plugin Installation Problems

SH404 Plugin Installation Problems
Post SH404 Plugin Installation Problems
by Bert Stanfield on 12/15/2008 01:21

Hello,
Trying to install the plugin for sh404 and am encountering failures due to two files not being writable.
* /home/easybev/public_html/components/com_sefservicemap/sef_ext/com_sefservicemap.php is not writable, patch failed!
* /home/easybev/public_html/administrator/components/com_sh404sef/language/plugins/com_sefservicemap.php is not writable, com_sefservicemap.php sef language file patch failed!
The problem is that the files are nowhere to be found?

There is no documentation as to what this com is supposed to do exactly, whether it publishes the URL friendly names to the sitemap files or what?
Someone seems to be mentioning the files above in a prior post but it is in a foreign language I obviously dont understand.

I am not an expert in these things and would appreciate some help, seeing that this com has excellent ratings, (I realize this is a plug-in)

Thanks
Bert

Hi Bert.
Could you check, if you use FTP filesystem mode?
(From admin menu:Site->Global configuration, tab "Server", FTP settings)

Regards, Radek.

Yes FTP is enabled. These files are not where the plug-in says they should be. I vaguely remember some other file errors and they were located in another directory, either the plug-in or the SEF Service MAP.

ok.
Try new version please:
[http://www.sefservicemap.com/lang-pl/download/doc_details/23-sh404sef-plugin.html -> http://www.sefservicemap.com/lang-pl/download/doc_details/23-sh404sef-plugin.html ]

Problem was with file permissions. New install works with FTP mode fine too.

Regards, Radek.

You can install plugin manually too:
First, unzip file and copy files please:

1. from zip file:
sef_ext/com_sefservicemap.php
to service:
components/com_sefservicemap/sef_ext/com_sefservicemap.php

2. from zip file:
language/plugins/com_sefservicemap.php
to service:
components/com_sh404sef/language/plugins/com_sefservicemap.php

Regards, Radek.

I´ve already done that. How can I check if the plugin is working? I think it is working correctly cause the links in the sitemap piont to the links created by sh404. Is that all?

Sorry for seeming a little bit stupid and thanks for help!
